Once you have been a member of one of our walking groups for a while it is possible for you to become a volunteer walk leader. Training is by Walking for Health accredited trainers and usually involves an initial day-long session, covering route planning and safety aspects. This is followed by sessions where you will shadow a walk leader and then lead your own walk in the presence of one or more other qualified walk leaders. Walk Leader training sessions normally take place twice a year.

Once you have joined a walking group the walk leaders can advise you of any volunteering opportunities. These can involve helping to maintain the walk registers and other administrative or publicity roles, as well as walk leading.
