The volunteer-led Closer to Home Walking Network aims to deliver a comprehensive walking programme for the different areas and population groups in the city of Stoke-on-Trent and its surroundings. Currently (November 2016) more than 300 people in the city are actively involved in our walks.

The project was originally set up in 2009 by the Federation of Stadium Communities with funding from NHS Stoke-on-Trent.

Our Mission:   "Walking forward together for a healthy, active and sociable lifestyle"

Walking is great for your health and puts a spring in your step. That's why 'Closer To Home Circular Walks' was originally set up in 2009. It now operates as a network of walking groups throughout Stoke-on-Trent and has received accreditation from the national Walking for Health organisation. In 2016 we received an Awards for All grant from the National Lottery to support the work our volunteers are doing locally.

We understand that becoming more active can be difficult but we're here to help. You can take part in a free short walk near to where you live, at a pace that works for you, and with specially trained leaders showing you the way. Walking regularly with one of our groups does not just help you feel better physically - it can also make you feel less isolated and introduce you to others with similar interests and challenges.

It's great way to stretch your legs, explore what's on your doorstep and make new friends.
